Ground Tests is a research project that studies and elaborates the means and methods of art, design and media research. It comprises extra-disciplinary investigations that connect contexts, communities, and concerns through non-traditional, undisciplined knowledge practices. Collaborative researchers include Benoît Verjat, Donato Ricci and Paolo Patelli, amongst many others.
How should creative research and artistic/designerly investigations be composed, how do and should they work? As ‘tests’, we activate concepts and styles with their origins in cultures of art, design and media creativity, while diverting these modes toward socially and ecologically responsible issues and ends. The project exists within the ecosystem of the European Forum for Advanced Practices (EU Cost Action project). Topics include Anthropocene cultures, human-animal relations and the provision and recomposition of metabolic creative practice around food, food systems and agriculture.
